STRANGLER
Héctor Zamora, Mexico
The tools used in architecture for its own materialisation, can easily wipe off the boundaries of artistic concepts. Moreover, the architecture is able to glue together the phenomena which are basically polarised. One way or another, we are facing a site-specific installation named Strangler. We cannot be sure what kind of dialogue it offers to the tree it envelopes. Similar to painter Gustav Klimt who establishes a pure domination of the beauty over the doubts in his secessionist portraits, here we find Austrian Pinus Nigra being attacked by red colour RAL 3024. Without any intention to question architectural appearance of the work, the Jury is announcing Micro Macro Award 2022 to the Design which cordially offers new (urban) perspectives for the eyes of a viewer, as well as for their intellectual and physical engagement.

FRAGMENTS: DECONSTRUCTION
Manousos Manousakis, Greece
From the most unexpected angle comes the work which brings pure architecture, confirming the subtitle of this Event. Due to animations that open new ways of seeing, we are able to get trapped by a dystopic space with fantastic atmosphere, which keeps us comfortable and nervous at the same time. Critical aspect of this work is well known, but still unusual for architectural design practice, including the presentation itself. The beauty of lines and seduction of the narrative leave us at the end literary eager for more, and without any other option but to award it.

ES01 ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
Unknown studio, Serbia
Jovana Miletić, Miloje Krunić, Milan Grubanov, Marko Ilić, Jelena Džinović
This deisgn project is perfectly integrated into its surroundings. The role it serves is not clearly shown in its form, which is good in this case because it keeps its deep and pure role inside the objects. This nice and clean form, with elegance and harmony but still simple seems to be in scale and to serve the kids’ needs. In the project ES01 ELEMENTARY SCHOOL, we can see the interesting and thoughtful tested idea in a new context. The form is reminiscent of a typical warm home where everyone is welcome and safe.

THE EMBOWERING SPACE
Aleksandra Pešterac, Zoja Erdeljan, Serbia
Project THE EMBOWERING SPACE deals with the relevant topic of how architecture reacts to natural processes of transition. The design conceives a structure of a visitor center, while keeping – and even strengthening – the characteristics of the specific site. The jury is impressed by the poetic way that the project deals with decay and renewal. It connects old and new structures in a philosophical way. The intervention creates a new attraction point that responds to the specific site conditions, while keeping its fluidity and transitory atmosphere. The jury is curious to see how the proposed competition entry could be further developed into a realizable architectural project.

The jury finds this example to be a valuable study regarding sustainable development in the fields of art, creativity, and dialogue between cultures. It presents an innovative project that explores the conditions of a city and the creation of a museum that will alter its overall urban public space. It aims to understand the cultural, social, economic and institutional dynamics of ‘a museum’ –protecting contemporary art and cultural diversity and promoting the development of a country. Taken these aspects in consideration the jury decided to honor this project with a mention.
